The Little Red Messenger

The male Northern Cardinal. Some believe that they act as messengers.

Could he be a messenger from a loved one who is watching from heaven, a messenger of good fortune that is soon to come,

or a message of hope?

The message may mean something different to each of us.

I, for one, smile and think of my dad.

Dear little redbird ... thank you for visiting and the reminder of a man with a bright mind, quick humor and beautiful, twinkly blue eyes.

About Me:

An elderly woman stood looking out a large window one evening.

I asked if she was waiting for someone. She replied that she came here every evening. She was losing her eyesight and wanted to see every sunset she could before that time came. This proved to be a profound moment for me.

Fast forward to 2013, I was looking for something to fill the void that used to be spent caring for my sons and my ailing father. I saw the most beautiful sunset over the frozen lake, pulled my car over and stopped to enjoy it remembering the elderly woman's words.

Having only a smart phone, I snapped away at the beauty hoping to catch it.

My love for photography began.

Self-taught and told I had a "natural eye", I learned photography through trial and error. Combined with my love of nature and hiking, photography has become a passion.
